Founded in Jan. 1950, Zhejiang Research Institute of Chemical Industry co, Ltd. (ZRICI for short) is the largest R&D institute in Zhejiang at present. We are a support organization for the National Engineering Technology Research Center for ODS Substitutes, National South Agrochemical Creation Center’s Zhejiang Base, Yangtze River Delta Silicone Research Center, Zhejiang Fluorine Chemical Engineering Technology Research Center and Zhejiang Province Chemical Products Quality Inspection Station accredited by the National Lab. ZRICI possesses a National Key Lab for Fluorine-containing Greenhouse Gas Replacement, Control and Treatment approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology, a Postdoctoral Workstation for Scientific Research approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. More than 40 researchers in the institute have enjoyed special government allowances of the State Council in succession. Now we have more than 300 researchers in various domains, including 16 doctors, 108 masters, 8 professor-level senior engineers, 67 researchers holding senior professional titles, 110 researchers holding intermediate professional titles, 1 expert included in the Recruitment Program of Global Experts, as well as 19 scientists included in Zhejiang 151 Program and Hangzhou 131 Program.
ZRICI mainly researches substitutes for CFCs and Halon, fine fluorine chemicals, new fluorine-containing agrochemicals, fine and special chemicals, provides horizontal technical services, including chemical product analysis and testing, biological testing, safety evaluation, etc. In the past more than 60 years, ZRICI has undertaken over 650 national and provincial vertical scientific research tasks and made a large group of scientific and technological achievements. Our Vinyl Chloride Production Line HFC-152a and HCFC-142b Pilot Trial Technology has won a 2nd prize in the National Prizes for Progress in Science and Technology. Our 5 projects including the “HFC-227ea 100t Pilot Trial” have won 1st prizes in the Provincial Prizes for Progress in Science and Technology.
At present, ZRICI possesses 112,000㎡ lab building. In terms of fluorine chemical engineering research, we have labs for new substitutes, gas phase catalysis, catalytic hydrogenation, electronic gases, new refrigerants, membrane materials containing fluorine, new energy materials, fine fluorine chemical engineering, element fluorination, etc. In terms of new agrochemical research, we have labs for molecular design, custom-made synthesis, chiral synthesis, biological activity assays, safety evaluation, etc. In terms of analysis and detection, we have labs for R&D, analysis, hazardous chemical identification, standard setting, GLP, etc. Our labs are equipped with more than 1,000 pieces/sets of various globally advanced scientific research equipment. We have a large group of advanced analytical and testing instruments, such as the nuclear magnetic resonance, chromatograph-mass spectrometer, element analyzer, infrared spectrometer, high-level gas-liquid chromatograph, etc.
In recent years, aiming to “enhance the innovation capacity, lead the industry development, create a first-class R&D institution in China”, firmly sticking to the development strategy of “new materials, new technologies, new applications, new services”, focusing on fluorine chemical engineering, agrochemical and new fine chemical engineering, ZRICI has sped up innovation, research and development, become an important guarantee to support Sinochem fluorine chemical engineering industry’s sustainable development.
